Race rules/Competition rules

● Those who violate the following competition rules, those who violate the International Skyrunning Federation (ISF) rules, and those who do not follow the instructions of the staff will be penalized for 3 minutes or disqualified.
● We will announce the mandatory equipment on our website by 15:00 2 days before the race. Please prepare in advance. For details, please refer to mandatory equipment(※CHECK
● We will check mandatory equipment at the runner reception the day before the race. Bring these mandatory equipment to the reception and show them to the staff. Please note that you will not be able to hand out the bib unless you show us the mandatory equipment.
● Course notes and ISF rules will be explained at the MT.AWA SKYRACE briefing the day before the race. Please attend.
● If you are late for the reception, you will not be able to run.
● If a runner (DNS) does not start due to circumstances, he / she must inform the staff. May be subject to missing runner.
● Participants must gather at the starting point 30 minutes before the start.
● A special zone for elite athletes will be set up at the starting point, and only elite athletes can enter. It will open from 30 minutes before the start.
* Elite players are free slot getters who are selected by SkyMan in the previous year's ranking.
● The referee placed at the starting point will check the mandatory equipment. Be sure to follow the instructions.
● The start time may change depending on the progress. Please follow the announcement on the day.
● Athletes must carry or wear mandatory equipment during the race.
● There are several cut off times on the course. Pass within the cut off time. If you are unable to pass, you will be disqualified.
● Athletes must follow the specified course.
● When you drop from the race, be sure to contact the staff at the aid station or on the course. Otherwise may be subject to missing runner.
● Do not overtake in dangerous areas. Since the UMANOSE is nallow redge, please follow the instructions of the course guidance staff.
● Please do not throw trash on the course.
● A lot of rare plants and animals inhabit the area near Mt.AWA. Please respects the nature. If you do leaving the mountain trail and making loud sounds and voices, mean if you do not respect nature, you will be disqualified.
● Course is mountain trail, forest road and ridge trail. If there are climbers or hikers, be sure to follow the rules and manners of race such as walking while passing each other, and ensure safety by yourself.
● If you seems to be difficult to complete the race, the organizer may decide to abstain from the race.
● Pole and food and drinks can be delivered from private support (support prepared by individual participants) at the point designated in the race (support zone).
* The support zones are Nagase Shrine, Central trail Junction, MT.AWA peak and 5th station.
* Your private supporters must park their car at official parking lot and access to Nagase Shrine or Central trail Junction on foot. If your supporter park on the street for support, you will be disqualified. be careful.
* Official parking lot address is MT.AWA Prefectural Recreation Area, 2684, Miyayorikami, Kamo, Niigata.
* Nagase Shrine is about 800m from the official parking lot.
* It is 45-minute walk from the official parking lot to the Central trail Junction.
* It is 3-4 hours from the the official parking lot or Kita Imogawa trail head to MT.AWA peak.
* 5th Station can only be accessed on foot, and it is about an hour's walk from the MT.AWA Kita Imogawa trail head Parking Lot.
* Support zone is within 50 meters radius of aid station.

● To protect mountain trails and vegetation, we will set up a section where you can use sharp stock and crampons. Poles and crampons can be used on the entire snow section. Be sure to take off the crampon on other sections and on the soil. Poles with caps can be used anywhere on the course.
* Available sections of poles & crampons will be announced at the MT.AWA SKYRACE briefing the day before the race.
* Referee will be assigned to the sections where poles and crampons can be used. Follow the referee's instructions.
● Please finish within 7 hours (15:00) from the start. If you are unable to complete the goal, you will be disqualified.
● If there is a rescuer, the time required for rescue will be subtracted from the time and a result will be issued.
● If the award ceremony is absent without any special reason, the runner will be disqualified.

[B plan course]
● B plan course (21km, cumulative altitude 1600m) may be activated depending on weather conditions, as following reasons.
1. Avalanche risk is highly recognized
2. Heavy Rain (more than 10mm / hour precipitation)
3. Visibility of 10m or less due to generation of thick fog
If the UMANOSE, narrow ridge is judged dangerous for any of the above reasons, it will be B plan course.
● The final decision to change to the B plan course due to the remaining snow conditions will be announced by 15:00 three days before the race.
● The cut off and aid stations for the B plan course are as follows.
11.5㎞ Beech Junction Aid Station (Cola, Water), Support Zone
12km Imogawa Trail Junction, 2 hours and 45 minutes (10:45)
15km 8th Station Aid Station (Bar, Cola, Water), Support Zone
* At the 8th Station turn-back point, the referee will sign on your bib with a pen. So please make sure to stop one moment there.
● B plan course goal time limit is within 4 hours 50 minutes (12:50). If you are unable to complete the goal, you will be disqualified.
● Please note that in the case of the B plan course, runners who head for the summit of MT.AWA from the 8th station will be disqualified due to increase avalanche risks for others.

How to check mandatory equipment

● We will check mandatory equipment at the reception desk on the day before the race. Bring these all mandatory equipment to the reception and show them to the staff. Please note that you will not be able to hand out the bib unless you show us the mandatory equipment.
● The referee placed at the starting point will check the mandatory equipment. Be sure to follow the instructions.

Notes

● At the same time as practicing enough, please participate with the mind of climbers rather than runners.
● You will participate at your own risk as you would with a regular mountain climber. Therefore, even if a problem occurs, make sure that the organizer is not responsible for it and sign the pledge.
● Learning from overseas races, we are trying to be eco-friendly and paperless. No documents will be sent to Internet applicants. We will confirm your application by name at the reception.
● Please note that if a major accident occurs on the day before the race or on the day of the race, the race will be cancelled.
● When a weather warning is issued, the organizer will decide whether to cancel, change, or shorten it. The final decision will be announced on this website by 4 am on the day of the race.
● Please note that refunds will not be given even if the event is unavoidably interrupted, changed or canceled due to natural disasters (earthquakes, storms, fires, etc.).
● After receiving the application and completing the deposit procedure, you cannot change or cancel the event for any reason. Please note that participation fees will not be refunded.
● The organizer is not responsible for any damage or loss caused by participants to themselves or third parties.
● For accidents during the race, we will not respond to compensation beyond the insurance benefit limit by accident insurance. If you need compensation beyond the insurance benefit limit, you must join on your own.
● The organizer recognizes the importance of personal information, and handles personal information in compliance with laws related to the protection of personal information and related laws. However, the organizer has the right to publish the video, photos, records, etc. taken during the race to the Internet and to post the media. In addition, please understand that we may provide participation guidance, record notification, notification of related information, sponsorship of the event, cooperation from related organizations, etc. for the purpose of improving service to participants.
● We do not print finishers certificates. Please download from your homepage after the goal.
● Results will be unified in English for the World Series.
● Award prizes will not be mailed even if they are not participating.
● Winners should receive prizes at the award ceremony. Please note that prizes will not be shipped or posted.
● After the goal, we will prepare a light meal. To protect the environment, please bring and use your own cup as much as possible.
